"Cooley, who leases farmland to local growers, also permanently protected family ranchland in the Pajaro Valley and property near Elkhorn Slough in Monterey County from development with conservation easements",
and PVWMA, the "Farm Bureau", and her tenants... www.Driscolls.com www.dole.com www.calgiant.com PERMANENTLY RUINED OUR GROUND WATER BASIN BY OVERPUMPING IT 200% ANNUALLY FOR DECADES TO GROW 25% OF THIS COUNTRY'S BERRIES ANNUALLY IN LITTLE PAJARO VALLEY AND EXPORT OUR WATER IN IT'S BERRY PRODUCTS... LEAVING THE VAST MAJORITY OF OUR BASIN PERMANENTLY BELOW SEA LEVEL YEAR ROUND...ie permanently ruined. CAUSING THE GREATEST HUMAN CAUSED CATATROPHE IN THE HISTORY OF THE ENTIRE MONTEREY BAY REGION. What good does it do to "save" and "conserve" aglands when there is no water? Answer: You can get money for ag easements "to save agriculture in Pajaro" even if there is no water! |

Here's how the Santa Cruz Land Trust wants to set up this "ag conservation easement" scam for us for here "to save agriculture" here for us (like Ms. Cooley used on her land)... http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/ci_12669246... paid for by our tax dollars in the new "tax district" they want to form for us. We already have one do nothing "ag stooge" tax district called the "Santa Cruz County Resource Conservation District"... http://www.rcdsantacruz.org/ (please note the strawberries pictured in their logo/branding) taking our real estate tax money and "conserving our resources" for us (eg. seen the little blue round signs?), right? Guess they forget completely about "conserving" our ground water supply resource, eh? Wonder why? |

Thanks to Diane for helping to conserve farmland and the foothills above the Pajaro Valley.

In the 1990's Diane Cooley opposed the Riverside annexation which might have brought a light industrial complex to Watsonville and allowed local Latinos to move from farm labor to better jobs. Then she opposed the Franich annexation which helped some of the farm workers move from garages to decent homes. Then she received money/tax breaks for preserving property from development which she had no intention of developing anyway. Where's the sacrifice?

Typical Farm Bureau idiocy. Honor someone that has never farmed anything, and who has inherited a lot of acreage that was unlikely to be farmed or built on, and then paid by the SCC Land Trust to keep it that way!!

Ah, all the lonely whiners who do nothing except post tiresome comments about someone who does something to make the world a better place. I guess the good news is that it's mostly one guy hiding behind a variety of names.

When the folks sniping at good people like Diane have contributed even a tenth of the time, treasure, talent and heart that she has to make this community a better place, their complaints will carry more weight. Your chronic ill-humor and ineffective ranting identify you. Step up to the plate and contribute in some positive way to the community well-being and perhaps someday, you too will be honored by the community you claim to serve.

I am not hiding. Nor am I looking to be honored by "the community" or anybody else. I trying to provide for and protect the future of my children and grandchildren and yours, if you have any. In my informed estimation and opinion, this future has been grossly neglected by Ms. Cooley and many others with responsibility in a position to have acted differently with better results...very possibly irretrievably so. Inform yourself....here are some links to help you better appreciate my opinion, position, and above comments... www.dougforsupervisor.com www.begentlewiththeearth.com www.pogonip.org I can understand your feelings and comments... Denial is almost always present and operative in substance abuse problems. |

Very "Porterish" move. Sell the development rights to mawgaraz land that was not developable to begin with, and still own the land. Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too ?!
