To all those who gave to charities this holiday season. Despite a sluggish economy, generosity was apparent, as the United Way, the Holiday Helping Hand Fund and local food drives had successful efforts, in most cases exceeding their own expectations.
It's disingenuous, at best, for Gov. David Paterson to suggest school districts raid their reserve funds to cope with midyear state aid reductions caused by New York's inability to balance a budget.
