PSP does as good as can be expected. They are spread too thin. I agree with "Not Interested", they are reactive. Local departments can be proactive and most of them are. Maybe with the State charging for their services the local powers will realize the benefit of a local department.

Bet you wouldn't mind paying when someone is breaking into your house or a drunk is speeding down the highway your loved ones travel on!

I don't understand why everyone is so surprised by all this, it's what you VOTED for CHANGE. Well you wanted it you got it. My advice is as long as gov't is going to be run the way it is now, you might as well get use to it. The question is how long before there are more taking from the pot than are putting in? Who ever said socialism is great until you run out of other peoples money, nailed it it on the head. Bush made mistakes no doupt, but at least he was capitalist and American

I have no problem paying for police protection. We have local law enforcement in our twp. so we do not have to call PSP.
In my whole life, and I’ll be 50, I’ve called the local police TWICE. Once for my home being broken into and once for my dog getting away from my Daughter while they were walking.
Anyone who doesn’t like to pay their fair share needs to move to a country where the law breaks down your door in the middle of the night for no reason and kicks the shit out of you or worse.
We still have it pretty good in this country or you would not be on this forum speaking ill of police.
PLEASE if you do not like living in the USA, MOVE!!!!!!!
What I’m tired of is taking care of all the losers in this country who want to sit on their fat or skinny ass and do NOTHING all the while collecting a check from the federal government.
As for police bashing:
The next time your kid doesn’t come home or your car is stolen or someone breaks into your house, don’t call the police.
And for those of you who don’t live in PA, mind your own states business not PA’s!

You have it right conservative! To many not paying in and not enough with money to pay in.
Our taxes keep going up for many reasons. Here are a few:
More people in the country getting federal aid:
Either their disabled ( some are faking it for sure).
Elderly (people are living longer).
Welfare rolls are growing (people make a life out of it).
Children are having children (prego at 14 or younger). Who do you think pay’s for all these babies that the teens keep having? It’s not the parents or the grandparents. What do they do? They run right to the welfare office for help.
The middle class is shrinking due to job loss. The middle class where the ones holding this country together. So many employers either closed up or moved out of the country to find cheaper labor. A lot of the middle class can no longer pay their mortgages, credit cards etc.
What happens when their is no more middle class?
So, if you want things to get better. Get off your ass and get a job! I don’t care if you have to hold 2 or 3. I work 2 jobs myself and get 2 days a month off. I don’t ask or get any aide, never have and hopefully never will need it.
The government needs to get people out of this country who are here illegally. Ship out all the a**h*oles who think the country stinks. Hell send them to Iran or Iraq. Better yet CHINA!!!
Stop children from having babies. If you don’t have or can not hold a job then you don’t need to have children you can not afford! I don’t want to take care of your kids that’s for dang sure! I raised my own and did it without a problem.

HAHAHAHAHA,
I remember a friend telling me about a call they got one time.
The lady was complaining about people speeding up and down her road while her kids where out at the end of the driveway playing.
What the heck are your kids doing out their??????
Keep your kids off the roads and in their yards!
Watch your children don’t let them run amuck. Know who your kids play with and what their friends names are. I knew where my Daughter was and who she played with. So did my parents with all 10 of us kids.

If someone breaks into my house, then I won't need the police, but an ambulance to carry out the corpse of the intruder. As for the drunk drivers, that problem tends to take care of itself.

Yeah right! Speeding tickets don't generate any revenue. That's pretty funny! You expect us to believe THAT nonsense? For tickets to not be such a big source of income for the government, I sure do see a lot of LEOs hiding in tall weed patches, doing nothing more than sitting there and pointing their radars at passing motorists. Shouldn't they be out doing something more constructive, like actually patrolling?
I bet you're a LEO.
He is right...local police get about 12 bucks from a 200 dollar ticket...it is not a money maker...further proof that you are an uninformed blow-hard

So, who gets the other $188? Oh, the government.

You stated that the cops get paid that is why they write tickets...I was simply pointing out that you are wrong. The cops do not take orders from the government agencies taking the other 188.

That's not what I said at all...I said that the speed traps and "hide-and-seek" games are nothing more than revenue generation methods for state and local governments, with LEOs acting as collection agents. Have you never heard of ticket quotas?

could be worse: we could divide PA up into 3 separate states: then each area could decide on what is best for each area and tax each area accordingly. Eastern PA, Central PA, Western PA. Each could have it's main city Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and Pittsburgh. ( Harrisburg could apply to NFL to get an expansion team ) Then things may even out some and taxes would be more localized. We in Adams county would not have support Philadelphia schools or road projects or Pittsburgh anymore.

I'm sorry, but after reading some of these comments, I find that I must chime in. I am a Borough Councilperson in a very small (979 people-2000 census) borough in eastern PA. I know first hand that we receive nearly nothing from a speeding ticket, in terms of fine money. What we do get instead, are safer streets for our residents. I do believe we are just above 1000 residents now, which puts us into the 1000-3500 person class.(The bill allows for different fees for different size municipalities)As far as this new fee, at the rate of $156.00 per person(based on last census) would equal $152,724.00 annually, barring any population changes. We would be able to add another full-time officer and 1 or 2 part-timers(or maybe 2 or 3 part-timers) and still spend less than this fee. This would bring us well above the required 80 hours of municipal police coverage to become exempt from the fee. Our borough residents would be safer, we'd have more patrol time-with much less waiting(and attitude), and we'd be paying for our own local police instead of the PSP. Let's all remember: the PSP do not and WILL not enforce any local ordinance, whether it is borough, township or city.

Thank you,

Soooo John, where does the money go then? Somebody's getting it. And what about all of the speed traps and "hide-and-seek" games I see in every township with a local police force. Public safety my butt.

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Cancer

You may not be privy to every little thing that's going on around you, but so what? Crabs can't always be in control, but you don't need to feel insecure, either. Thanks to your electronic devices, you appear to be a little godlike to those who don't have the same access as you do at the moment. Just make sure that you memorise the important stuff in case the system goes down.
