Raging waters of a central Oregon coast creek played a part in a dangerous situation for a local dog, helping to illustrate humans aren't the only ones who can get hurt by coastal waters.

Crews from the Seaside Aquarium responded to the beach strandings of several large sea creatures this weekend, as a 39-foot sperm whale and a 13-foot gray whale both dead washed ashore on the southern Washington coast.

More than usual seemed to take place in the Cannon Beach and Arch Cape area over the year, certainly in the natural world, when it came to the wacky sand levels much of the coast encountered over the summer.

It was the year of the big tsunami scare, adorable seal pups being born, of strange space phenomena, glowing sand and dramatic weather and sand level events.
