I applaud Mr. Pierce for standing up for the citizens and feel he is the most right on this subject. He is right about the fact we are a very small town and that is why alot of us like living here. We shouldn't have tickets being written over every tiny thing just because it is on the books. I think discretion and common sense needs to be used by the board, mayor and officers.
I also want to know if the ordinance can be changed. Why should there have to be a lid that locks? Why not state an enclosed trash container with a cover (a cover that won't blow off). I have a container that has a heavy metal lid but it doesn't lock onto the can. I do think the trash needs to be in some type of enclosed container with a lid to keep cats, dogs, coons, and everything else from strowing it and from the stench flowing into your neighbors yard. I don't think it is right to drive down the street and see bags of trash sitting at the curb days before pick up time. The current ordinance needs to be changed to make it fair for everyone in town. Ron is wishy washy in his statements and I wish someone else would run for his seat next time. He seems to think he runs the town all by himself. This opinion did not happen over night either. I have heard and watched him for years. I understand he has done alot and even appreciate some of the things he has done for the town but that doesn't mean he gets to have things his way all the time. Alot of others do things for the town but don't think they are judge and jury over the town. I hope the other board members stand up for what they believe and what they believe the towns people want. Over all I think this group of board members is doing a good job. I also want to thank the city, including board members, mayor, city officers and employees as well as all the volunteers for all the time they put into the cotton festival. The concert was great and the park is really looking good. |

I agree what kind of container you put your trash in should not matter. Thank god that you are picking up your trash. Look at the trash in the ditches and around town. The old buildings are nasty and falling down.

I agree with Brent. The Containers should at least keep dogs and cats out, so there isn't trash scattered everywhere. I also think the city needs to do something about the old buildings, and possibly look to put new buildings there or with a grant, so that maybe ppl could have a place to put a business if they wanted to. Instead of paying Bellamy Brothers 10,000 dollars to play, knowing there is no way we could make that much money back.

The city needs to sell that Park for business or houses. There will never be anythingin Arbyrd when the city ownes all the land. Also looks to me like we as tax payers would save money we would not have to hire someone to mowe and take care of all that property all the time. Looks like that is what Tracy works at all the time.
The city could use the railroad property for a Park. |
