is this article saying that daytime drunks are rare?? Do the police think this too?? Everytime I drive by a bar one pulls out on me (hint to the Spring Lake Park police-Kraus Hartig or are they off limits??) I say it is a safe bet that 1 in 10 at all times on the road is totally blasted. Add the texting and talking and no wonder we have such a mess out there!!! Seat belts are really the least of our worries and I am a firm believer in them.

Mary Allen, the greatest of our worries is the uneducated, redneck people of this state who keep voting in conservatives. Conservatives has cut funding so much that people afflicted with this disease are left to themselves and not given the treatment they deserve. Maybe if so many Republicans weren't in office we'd have a better society with fewer alcoholics.

I know for a fact there are seniors that go to the bars during the day, get blasted and drive drunk. The logic is that they don't want to be out on the road when the younger drunks are out at night. And they think they're fooling the police. Throw in bad circulation so they can't feel their feet to use brakes, it's a ticking time bomb.

being a drunk is not a disease. It is just being a drunk. I suppose you want to go back giving them social security. And why shouldnt we cut programs for drunks they can all go drink themselves to death. There choice they are over 21 they can do what they want and why should the gov get involved.

People didnt care about drunk driving until the 1980s when mad came around. ronald reagan told to get lost. i remeber cruising around drinking long necks and listening to the 8 track tape. people would open the doors to their car and empty beer cans would fall out. Now we have liberals telling us not to smoke and drink and now they are adding sodas to the list. to bad things changed

Wow!! I had no clue people like you were even still around. You are a throwback to about 1843! You are so ignorant and misinformed and completely clueless that it's almost quaint! Were you aware that we landed on the moon? I wouldn't be surprised if anyone as ignorant you was unaware of this. How do you have access to the internet? When did they start to wire caves?

For your information, alcoholism is a disease that many people suffer from and they need treatment, not punishment or rednecks like you telling them to "quit being a drunk" as if they had a choice in the matter.

Mrs R personifies exactly what is wrong with Libs and about 50% of our country right now. Leave aside her idiotic rant that its all Republican's fault, and look at the simple fact that she clearly believes no one should be held responsible for their own actions. Assume drinking is a disease, does that give anyone a right to get behind the wheel drunk?? Can't they take a cab, bus, walk, or call for a ride?? Nope, its the evil Republicans to blame for not throwing more money down a bottomless pit for treatment programs.Stupid people like her make me want to start drinking!

Why is this newsworthy? I'm far more concerned about the thousands of morons yapping on cell phones as they weave down the road fluctuating their speed from 30 to 60 and causing accidents in their wake. Cell phone yappers are FAR more dangerous than drunks--and they're legal! Why can't we get cell phone morons off the road anyway? Maybe the Madd Moms could find a new cause: Mothers Against Dialing Drivers.

I'm not sure how the police consider this behavior rare. I've spent many years behind the bar on the day shift, and it amazes me how many people think that it's OK to drive drunk as long as they're on the road before happy hour starts. They may blend in, but they're definitely out there. These same people think that the best time to drive wasted is during a snowstorm though. Strange mentality, but when booze is your life.....

I've also personally seen tons of blue hairs get blasted in the middle of the afternoon and then drive home. I'm suprised almost none of these people have recieved DWI's over the years. I guess they're just seasoned drunk drivers.

A few years back, I called 911 because of an obviously drunk driver on Interstate 94 in Mpls during afternoon rush hour. The guy was in a huge pick up truck weaving across all 3 lanes of traffic and driving up on the curb. I followed him for a little while until he took the 280 exit. How he managed to not hit anyone was beyond me. The state trooper that found and pulled him over called me and the 6 other people who called him in to thank us. He told me that he has pulled over a lot of drunk drivers in his career but this guy was by far the drunkest. He said the guy actually pissed in the back of his car. He also told me the guy was a repeat offender.

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Aries

There is minor evil around today, whether it is harsh words or actions. Relationships with non spiritual people will tend to be abrasive, as you come to understand that such people can never be trusted, for their agenda is not love. Beware of criticism from colleagues or friends. Avoid being narrow minded and confining your views to the conventional. You may want to argue with everyone and everything, but beware of devouring your own energy in the process.
