Six Parker County cities received an award from the North Central Texas Council of Governments Friday for their joint negotiation of a new solid waste services contract, according to a press release from the City of Hudson Oaks.

A roar of applause from firefighters at City Hall Tuesday morning followed the Wichita Falls City Council's decision to vote down a measure proposed by Fire Chief Earl Foster.

Early voting started Monday, and election officials said the turnout is on par with previous years.
