No offense intended, but these men seemly died like the rest of us mortals from disease and old age. They all were probably on medical retirement.

Your post is VERY offensive and ignorant. I don't see you out there risking your pansy-ass on a daily basis to make the world a little safer for the rest of us that don't have the balls to do the job of firefighters or police.

Next time you need the assistance of the fire service remember your lame post!

Where does it say anywhwere in the article about collecting money on retirement you jack***. All it is saying is they were put on a memorial honoring fellow deceased firefighters. Let's start a memorial for ignorant pukes like yourself and you can be the first name on the list.

Firefighters statistically die earlier than "normal" people because of their exposure to hazardous materials and through smoke inhalation. Their very presence at an emergency incident puts them in danger. The cancer rate for firefighters is way higher than that of other "normal" people. I knew two of these firefighters. One died ON THE JOB (in other words, no medical retirement, bonehead) and the other after a job-related illness...never retired. None of these men were "old". Each man did his job as it was expected and who knows how many lives they saved. Each one gave his life for public service. They're not heroes... not in the classical sense, but they're people to hold in high esteem and they deserve this memorial.
