I agree, this is one of the best services that Morristown could have EVER received. The Lifestar Helicopters sometimes fly over or near my house, and no matter what I'm doing,I always stop to watch it.To anyone that works for the Lifestar And Wings service THANK YOU very much for your time and effort to help everyone in our city, county and the surrounding counties, and cities in emergency and transport.

My husband had an atv accident in July 2008 and he had to be flown to UT. Got him there in 14 minutes! Expensive ride though but well worth it!

My brother hit a tree going 90 in a 1998 bmw. with no seat belt on. But oh wait. life star wouldnt fly him because of FOG. Besides the fact he was saved by ground transport. In another situation what would someone say if they lost this patient. Becuase of fog?

You need to understand that Lifestar by its nature has to fly into unknown territory all the time. There are several obstacles that could cause an immediate crash, i.e. powerlines, trees, buildings, etc. They can't very well maneuver under the cloak of fog. To do so could have put more people at risk, the pilots and medical personal, people on the ground. You would not want to be anywhere near a helicopter going down. The main rotor blades and the tail rotor will cause sever damage, i.e. decapitation.

I'm sorry your brother was in an auto accident Meme but you can't see too well in fog, hence they can't land at the scene or hospital, furthermore it would very easy to fly into a mountain. Ground transports are sometimes the faster alternative also, 8 minutes to get off the ground, who knows how long to get sat down and a 10 minute scene time and then flight to the hospital. Aeromedical services are a great asset to the community but don't forget about your ground transport services. Sevier County is blessed to have an outstanding ambulance service.

Sorry about your brother, but don't blame anything on Lifestar for not being able to get there because of fog. I have been an Air Force pilot, an airline pilot, and am now a corporate pilot. I have been flying since 1970. If Lifestar said they couldn't get there because of fog, believe me, they couldn't get there because of fog. Do you actually think theya didn't want to help? Unless you fly, you probably don't understand the problems associated with weather flying.

I work in the medical field.. LifeStar will fly when no others will. I KNOW!!!
U.K. being one of them. We've had Life Star come when the rest refuse and the fog has to be really dense for them to turn it down.

Don't blame LifeStar because your stupid brother was going 90 with or without a seatbelt. I have seen them fly in terrible weather and they are tremendous asset to our area.
