Athens County Family Loses Home in Fire ATHENS COUNTY-- A family of seven is without a home after a fire Thursday.
Barry G. Smith, 49, of Malta, died at 6:22 p.m. Wednesday at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
The earth shook in Morgan County and as far away as Muskingum County, Wednesday morning after a gas line exploded.
Athens County Gas Pipeline Explosion
Emergency crews are on the scene of a major gas pipeline explosion at the Morgan County / Athens County line near Robinson and Hooper Ridge roads.
