A Kansas State University at Salina student who was forced to perform an emergency landing Tuesday in a Geary County wheat field had miscalculated the amount of fuel in the university aircraft, according to a university news release.

A Kansas State University at Salina student was not injured when she was forced to land one of the university's planes in a wheat field Tuesday afternoon when it ran out of fuel during a solo flight, and the plane didn't appear to be seriously damaged.
