Its about time Vela left. Maybe Sul Ross will be what it used to be about 7 or 8 years ago when Dr. Tindol and Dr. Abbott ran it and served the students first instead of trying to impress everyone.
Hope this also means the education department will be restructured, it is embarrassing to see the new "teachers" they are "training". It is obvious most of the professors got of the public school setting as soon as they could or were forced out.

You assume that Dr. vela is the only one that has or will be asked to resign. I think that Tindol and Abbott are the Dino's that need to leave. They are racist individuals and if you want to have a University that discriminates against Hispanics in class and employment, then your wish will come true.

The truth is that the new Dean made Vela step down - either be reassigned or be let go. However, he also asked the same of the entire staff. He's bringing in his own people, which is what happens when a new president is hired.

The same thing happened when Brown was hired for UCISD. A lot of teachers quit, reassigned or terminated and a staff that would be on his side (including family members) were hired.

To try to argue with you about Abbott and Dr. Tindol being racists is pointless. I know for a fact they are NOT, but on the other hand just step back and try to see what exactly Vela did for the Hispanics, nothing, he tried to forget he was one unfortunately he is.

Isn't it funny that so many Hispanics were able to get their degrees when Dr. Tindol and Dr Abbott were in charge, they are the ones who made the branch possible. How soon people forget that the only way many of the long time aides in Uvalde became teachers was because of their leadership.

As for brown, what a joke and a waste.

I don't think it's funny that so many Hispanics received their degrees when Tindol was there. It was throough hard work and determination that this was accomplished. The question is how many extra classes were students advised to take and later told they woould not count toward degree??? He did that to many Hispanics. There were also many Hispanics that brown nosed him so bad it was pitiful. One could tell he was racist. His wife was a much better instructor.

so many of you forget the real truth and how many of the Hispanics were so unprepared to go to college at that time. That was one of the reason so many had to take extra classes. But remember the program was expanded through his leadership, unfortunately the current "leader" expanded it by building building and adding sub-standard instructors just to look good while the program suffered.

Have to admit that something definitely doesnt sound good about the move. Feel bad for the guy because he was used to the power and now he is forced to step down. You have to wonder why this occurred. Guess we will never know the truth.
