So where were the experienced professional, Assistant Do-nothing Hanna? For 10 minutes they succeed in not having the woman jump, but in those 10 minutes you could not either get a patrol officer or a so called "train professional" on the scene to seek alternative solutions. Your response is quite flipid and unprofessional. Increasingly more apparent that it is time to bring in outside leadership to the Allentown Police Department. We need a former chief of police and upper level management in police department from a city with more than 200,000. Great job Officer. You obviously were not part of the debate team and were uncovincing, while these untrained professionals did a superior job of not getting her to jump, until the police arrived. To Not Protect, To Not Serve, To Collect an Easy Paycheck, To Retire Young and Excessive. Allentown's APD moto.

yes, blame the cop for a jumper jumping off the bridge. perhaps he should have handcuffed himself to her.

After talking to the woman for a few minutes, Shosted said, a plainclothes officer ordered her and the other people nearby to get a safe distance away.
A safe distance away, for what? What'd they think she was going to do? Jump and grab someone and pull them with her.

Another great decision by our boys in blue.
And another great example of the ignorance, stupidity and heartless inhumanity of, let's see, about 50% of the people who posted comments here.

I can't believe this story, because she was not a trained professional she was told to step away from the woman hanging over the bridge ready to jump and they say the police done all they could the only thing they done was allow this woman to jump what losers the APD are... and now they want to talk to her for info, well i know what i would tell them...

It sounds to me like ED Hanna would have been more useful.

WOW, get off your mothers breast and get outside into the real world! Step up and wear the badge like the brave men and women of APD. Until then, continue to hide in your mommys closet and type on her pc in the safety of that home den! comment wrote: So where were the experienced professional, Assistant Do-nothing Hanna? "However, that's not the same with a third-party intermediary with no background or training, he said." It's unfortunate if this is truly the attitude of the "professionals". We hear how people should be involved in the care of our community, be vigilant regarding illegal activity and partner with the police. To read a comment like this is disheartening. How about the police partnering with citizens who are making a difference? Ordinary people do extraordinary things everyday, regardless of time spent in the classroom. How about the police partnering with citizens who are making a difference? Now that would be extraordinary!

Why don't you people let our officers do there jobs. If you think you are more qualified than the men and women that patrol our streets, then go sign up and join the force. Until then, SHUT YOUR MOUTHS!!!

Food for thought: in France, both onlookers and the police officer in question would risk being charged with the serious offence of failing to aid someone in danger. As the facts are reported in the article, only the two who talked to her might be safe from that accusation.

1 correction to the story ... she did not fall, but leaped to her death. Observing from an office near-by, we saw her move to position herself over the road below and then stoop down and "fly" off the bridge with arms extended.
I don't know which is sadder, the young woman's solution to solve her life's problems or the insensitive responses of those who are still around to perpetuate their animosity.

"Trained professionals"??? At what? These guys aren't really trained to do anything. They retire so early they don't even get much training through experience. Another fine job. I give them the capital "L" for looooosers!
