What's really funny here is the article has to give an example of what one hour early means - now that is absolutely hilarious... maybe the school should stay open an hour later so the kids don't end up as stupid as the parents that need an example to tell time OMG that's just too funny...

There is nothing wrong with kids walking to school in the cold. I don't know what planet some people are on, but we walked to school in the cold and snow. People need to get a grip. If they were out, then someone will complain about the make up day.

Keeping the kids out of school for every little thing is ridiculous. Children in the northern states still have to go to school, why should there be exceptions for 1/2 inch of snow. Plez!

i really think u are stupid wat do the kids down here in memphis have to do with the kids in the northrn states. get a clue its 2010 wat they do up there is totally different here.

My thoughts... Question? Would you walk to work in this cold. Probably not. not to mention that the sidewalks were potentially icy and dangerous.
The problem with this is in that there are now parents who have to make arrangement at the last minute to pick their children up in many cases or to have someone there earlier than normal. For working parents this is a portential problem. At least with the other school districts you knew very early what was going on. In fact the county schools had an automated system that called our home at about 0515 this morning to advise the schools were closed. They are on top of it.

What a bunch of idiots. I can't believe ONE school is even closed today over what? a DUSTING!
