Nearly 500 people from Walworth and Campbell Counties and beyond faced sub-zero temperatures and bone chilling wind gusts on Sunday to show their support to the Mike Hirsch family, Mike, Doria, Carson, 9, Camden, 7, and Drake, 17 weeks, during a benefit dinner and auction.

Pastor Tim Berg and wife Melissa and their three children, Hannah, 6, a kindergarten student at Selby Area Schools; Isaiah, 4, a pre-school student at Zion Lutheran in Mobridge; and Chloe, 2, love living in the tiny town of Akaska.

In a moment, life can take a dramatic turn and change forever as did Mike Hirsch's last month when the Java farmer and rancher lost the majority of his right hand in a farming accident.
