It is once again filing time for municipal elections in North Carolina. Elections offices in Bertie, Hertford and Northampton counties will be closed on Friday, July 3 in observance of Independence Day, but will reopen Monday morning when filing will officially begin.

Wreck injures pair

A Sunday morning accident near here has left two victims in critical condition. Jeffery Miller, 30, of Ahoskie and eight-year-old Bruce Jernigan of Colerain are in ICU at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, both listed in critical condition according to North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper W.T. Smith.
