Full story: Sacramento Bee

In the rolling hills of deeply religious rural Pennsylvania sits Stoudtburg Village, a tiny hamlet modeled on a German town.

Well, they'll just open their shops again on Monday and post up some new signs on their front doors, "christian money only, please show your Malleus Maleficarum membership cards."

what a crap town that must be. I wish the pagan group safety. and hope that locals, pagan and non-pagan alike remember these shops and boycott them.

My husband and I are both pagans and both live very near Stoudtburg Village. We are also both healthcare professionals and parents, supportive of our community and religious freedom. We believe everyone has a right to choose how to make their money and live their lives. We choose to make our money and live our lives helping others. All others, regardless of their religious preference. I would like to know if these people would refuse my husband entry after they call 911 in an emergency, requesting his help? Or would they refuse my assistance in our local hospital when they need to get up out of bed and learn to walk again before they can go home? We are both appalled and embarrassed. Neither of us will EVER patronize those businesses that are closing their doors today. They are very fortunate that we don't discriminate. I believe quite a few of them would be surprised to see our faces crossing their "wall" today.

Christians have always been scared shtless of anyone with beliefs that challenge their own. That happens when your belief system is about as solid as a piece of swiss cheese.

Business is business and if these owners wish to close their doors and alienate possible customers, that is their choice. I have noted the ignorance, however that people have been quoted making references to satanic worship. I am saddened by the lack of education from Christian people, groups and organizations who have no idea about Earth based religions and out fundamental beleifs. They dont know that most of us dont acknowledge the existence of "Satan" nor do we spend energy on things so negative. It is sad that their own fears and predjudices are guiding their perceptions and allowng them a scapegoat to go against their own beliefs in their faith that revolve around acceptance and guidance to the unfaithful in hopes that they can recruit them to their cause.
Pagans dont activly recruit, witness or door-knock to educate or attempt to sway people into joining our groups and covens and society. We do however continue to open our doors to people who wish to learn, grow and volunteer to help their communities. Nearly every even has a donation that is given to a charity, be it a non perishable food item or a cash donation. We are not tithing to make our pastors rich, we are not corrupting our system with politics and we are trying to do good by ourselves with our fellowship.
I probably wouldnt patronize those businesses either after the comments I have heard but I honestly feel pity for those who live with such ignorance and have NO desire to educate themselves about our faiths before making public statements that are negative and more importantly, misguided and false.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Taurus

Someone isn't mucking about today, and if they're annoyed about something they'll come right out with it. This means you could be on the receiving end of some zingers, but equally it means that you'll be giving as good as you get. Now, although it will be very tempting to let off steam by giving someone an earful, aren't there better directions in which to channel your energy?
