but if you think about what's really at stake in this election you will keep Barrett in City Hall. The choice is competence versus nice guy. If you care, make the right choice.

Give it up today, pal. Minds are made. In a national election, you can change a mind at a poll. Local elections, sides were decided days ago.

In my gut and my son's, we think Barrett's going to squeak by. But, what I hear is running contrary to my gut. First time in years that none of us really know what's going to happen

Glad to hear that people care enough to vote even if the weather is bad. Good thing it's looking like a nice morning so far!

Enough already. Dick will win - he deserves his shot. Barrett has had his chance, his 2 more years, his 2 more years.
Times they are a changin'. Get out and VOTE for Dick Alcombright. Yes, he is a "nice" guy - so what is wrong with that? This city needs to have a Mayor that listens to smart ideas and not just shoot them down be cause "he" did not think of them.
This is not the UK, we don't need a King (Queen) this is not a dictatorship.... our city is called North Adams, not Barrettville. We deserve a Mayor who works for us, not himself.

VOTE ALCOMBRIGHT!!!!!!!!!!

We will know by 7:30pm, see all the smart and open minded and cool people at the Eagles, come early, as it will meet capacity by 7:15. Smile, everthing is gonna be OK.
Happy Days are Here Again.

HOw do we know he's competent. He hasn't said anything specific about what he plans to do. Even in his puff piece that the Transcript ran over the weekend, all he said was that he was going to come up with a plan for this, form a committee for that, sit down with Bo for this, etc. etc. etc.

And what is Barrett's plan, keep fudging the numbers on the insurance to charge the union more, Keep telling people NO you can't do that I don't like it even if it is a good idea to most people, Throw a tantrum when someone legally tries to look at the numbers for insurance. He just needs to take his toys and go home.

Take this to the bank: For 26 years, the 7 of us in my immediate family voted for Barrett. This year, my 2 children can vote.

We just voted. Alcombright picked up 9 from us, Barrett lost 7 from us.

Harpin also lost 7 votes. As did Bloom. As did Cariddi.

I have personally spoke to HUNDREDS of people. Every single one of them is voting for ALCOMBRIGHT.

Like I said before, Barrett's time is over, time to move on.

Dick does have a plan - it is called common decency, respect for the PEOPLE of N.A., this is OUR city. Finally, finally, it will be OUR city again, and it's coming tonight.

We are NOT AFRAID to VOTE, it is our right as American's, remember that, it is the USA.

Dick will win, just accept it, smile and sit back and watch the FORWARD progress begin - finally.

Go vote for Dick Alcombright today.

And alas, Happy days are and will be here again.:)

They're talking HEAVY voter turnout. That doesn't favor incumbents. Look at today:

Heavy A.M. turnout, mostly retirees. Barrett usually carried 95% of them. Not this time. It favors Barrett, but I'm targeting about 56% Barrett, 44% Alcombright.

Afternoon: You have worker hitting the booths. You have a ton of first timers and a ton of voters that usually don't come out. They're energized because for the first time in years, there's a choice of a strong challenger. Like it or not, Dick's got people excited.

Here's the good news/bad news:

Good news is that my gut is that Barrett's going to barely pull this off. The bad news is that my gut is so wrong all the time that my family makes fun of me. If the words, "Trust me on this..." come out of my mouth, whatever I've predicted is doomed.

So, I'm still going with a Barrett win. Trust me on this...

Barrett has this election 2to1. Alcombright peaked way to early and the momentum swung back to Barrett at the right time.

Yeah, Barrett is going to be fine. No need for the Barrett base to vote. Let the greenies waste their time.

It's anyones game at this point. Anyone who claims to know is speaking from hope or fear or both. The good news is that the city is coming out with enthusiasm for its own future. Whoever wins, that is great to see. The time for battle is over. Now it's time to get behind whoever is announced as winner and start moving forward

Care to wager on how wrong you are? 2 to 1? No way. You're in fantasy land on that.

I predict a win for him by less than a percentage point forcing a recount.

BTW, the Coakley endorsement carried about double the weight of the Kerry. Your confidence is not well placed, and I would suggest you replace it with nervous hope.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Sagittarius

A loved one gets hold of the wrong end of the stick today, causing endless hassle and fuss. They're likely to get upset in the process, so you have to calm them down, and that could lead to a squabble. You may also have to cope with discord when discussing family matters, with certain people getting bogged down in daft details that you think have nothing to do with the main issue.
