It's great to see the momentum continue for extending this trail. The current terminus is really in an odd location - no parking, etc. Extending the trail further south will result in connecting with major roads like Route 2A.

We're lucky to have such an asset in the area.

Last time I checked it was the PRIVATE SECTOR that was laying off, and shipping the jobs to India, Mexico and China( a communist country).

So what does a bike trail have to do with CEOs laying off people and paying themselves millions in salary, bonuses and stock options? Say what, momma.

Deval has plans to let 2,000 state empolyees go. And you can bet it won't be the 2,000 "jobs" he created when he got elected. Last on first off. but thats not happening. He wants to combine MassHighway and the Turnpike. Well the Turnpike worker makes MORE than a Masshighway worker. Sooo what did he save?? Far as "cause of the trail I am going back to work" it is a short term job. It does not "create" new jobs.

This trail was YEARS in the planning. Much of the funding was allocated and spent a long time ago. Yes, we're in a recession, but look around, the world isn't at a standstill. There are some public work projects, and privately funded projects till under construction.
The important thing is that the trail is built, and available for all to use. Go check it out. It's really quite impressive.

I wonder who is going to keep the trail open in the winter.
If there are no plans, then its a waste of money.

The same people who keep the other bike trails in Massachusetts open during the winter, genius. However, if you think we should spend *more* money to keep the trail open during the winter, which will get about 1% of the use as compared to the summer months, please, argue your case.

Really - I cannot understand the anger that some people seem to have for these projects. They provide a source of recreation that is essential to any community. Construction provides jobs. They add value to the communities they pass through.

But, if you want to be bitter about it - be my guest, but at least come to the table and be prepared to argue your point armed with something more than a third grade education.

Can you park at/near the Lowell Cinema? or will they tow you away?

I'm more worried about having my car stolen, broken into or vandalized than being towed. The criminals look for cars with bike racks on them and know that the people are far away.

The simple fact is if you are against this or any bike trail that promotes local businesses, safe and energy efficient transportation, and healthy living and recreation for all members of a family - you are an idiot.

This trail is fantastic and thank you sincerely to those who made it possible! See you on the trail or not to the negative couch potatoes.

Daily Horoscope for December 9

Scorpio

If something is bothering you, it's important that you say so now, loudly and clearly. It's no good bottling things up any longer because that will only lead to resentment and a slow-burning anger. However, it's important that you know when to shut up too, otherwise you might overstate your case or sound so demanding that you turn others against you.
