BANGUI, 6 March 2012 - Thousands of people who have returned to their homes in areas close to Ndl, in northern Central African Republic's Bamingui-Bangoran region, after years of displacement, are living in difficult conditions as the security situation is still precarious, say officials.

Displaced civilians in northern Central African Republic are facing acute hardship, including a high incidence of child or teenage marriage and widespread use of children as labour, the United Nations refugee agency reported today.

The Central African Republic government and the rebel Convention of Patriots for Justice and Peace plan to sign a peace accord within a week, the minister for disarmament said Thursday.
