The question to raise is "where do you go in a cover-up when OPP, CSC and Coroners are involved. No wonder the family of the victim are angry! The goal of death investigations is to provide information to the family of the deceased as to how and why their loved one died, and to give support through the death investigation process, including attentiveness to the Accountability!
Why did this poor family have to wait almost 10 years for a Coroners' Inquest. Unbelievable! Very concerned for other Ontario Families...

I understand the police and their predicament with providing public information. I know as a former government official that I had to be exceedingly careful with what I could discuss publically which was for all intents and purposes nothing.
I'd say when you have harm on both sides and the most important thing is to find the truth, the system should treat each party as much the same as possible. We've got a problem with organized crime.

Death investigation involves the coroner analyzing the results of the pathologist’s report, along with all of the other information obtained in the investigation, to determine the cause and manner of death. The investigating coroner indicates these findings in a form known as the Coroner’s Investigation Statement, and signs the Medical Certificate of Death Where a potential miscarriage of justice has occurred as a result of a flawed death investigation, it falls to the responsible Minister to refer the matter to the Courts to consider. Ontario lacks an independent oversight mechanism for potential miscarriages of justice of the kind provided for in the U.K. by the Criminal Cases Review The federal Minister of Justice, however, has investigative powers with respect to potential miscarriages of justice in Ontario, as well as the other provinces and territories, and can delegate them to qualified individuals.23

The thing is this is very real. It did happen the mother must still feel the physical pain, the severe sickness feeling of having to cope and be reminded everyday that the government failed her son!

Coroner's Inquest: this family had to wait 10 years for: "obviously does not support the conclusion that the initial police investigation was competent. To ensure other families of offenders do not have to endure similar pain, I feel it is imperative that an independent investigation of the OPP is warranted.

What is especially disturbing about this murder that it appears that the government itself may have been inexclusably complicit in this scheme. One question that cries out for an answer is why weren't the guards charged with obstruction of justice. The inescapable conclusion is that all guards are guilty of "not telling the truth" on the day of the murder and then perjured themselves under oath.

this is a travastey of justice as an Ontario citizen I'm shocked!
