The best of the Alberta backroads

For a couple of summers, when we had more than a weekend and less than a week of free time but not much travel cash, my husband and I took interrupted, multi-day road trips. The rules were simple: find a good small-centre golf course about two hours from the city; grab a day's worth of exercise at a novel destination; eat dinner at an intriguing small-town restaurant and avoid hotel fees by making it home to sleep.
