Storm surge leads to 'panic city' in northern N.B.
Rescuers wrapped 88-year-old Rebecca LaBillois in a blanket for protection against a whipping wind and carried the elder out of her Eel River Bar First Nation home in northern New Brunswick on Monday afternoon, just as her front step was washed away in a storm surge.
Although the budget isn't complete and won't be until early next year, it now appears that the town will be facing a property tax increase of just over 5 cents per $100 assessment.
