Jevic Transportation ceases operations

That's what I heard, and here's another link to the story ... we'll probably start seeing more companies close due to the high cost of fuel and insurance.

yeah, one of many, 25+ years and 1500+ out of work. Fuel prices weren't the only reason but it was definitely a deciding factor. Amazing how farmers get discounted fuel for use on the farms, but truckers can't get the same considerations isn't it?

Yeah; farmers get the discounts on fuel, but not trucker's ... what's up with that?

Well, I am one of those drivers who got screwed By Sun Capital Partners who owns Jevic. I am from another terminal in the southeast. I am stuck up here in NJ until t hey can get a load back and then I don't know if I will get paid or not. They pulled our insurance and everything with no warning. They are breaking laws. This didn't effect just people on NJ. This was Atlanta, Charlotte, Cleveland, Chicago, Boston, Newark, Cincinatti, Houston, Detriot, Memphis, And LA. What about us who wifes are supposed tohave a baby anyday, and we have nothing now, with no warning to get other insurance. This big business crapping on Americans needs to stop.

I knew of a possible shutdown at Jevic about 2-3 weeks ago, my wife works at a local "pub" that was frequented for luch by 4 of the terminal managers over there in Delanco and she overheard them talking about selling off all of the "equipment", she told me about it and it was fairly obvious the direction they were heading. They were totally mismanaged ever since the sale to "yellow" and then it got worse with the transfer to sun capital. Yellow screwed up in the beginning by not getting a "no compete" clause in the original sale.
Companies close all the time in the U.S. but they did it really scumbag way, the benefits part of it is a travesty. From what I hear Dianne Allen is getting involved, hopefully she forces sun capital to carry benefits for the emplyees for 30 days and then make them offer a "cobra" option.

By the way I grew up in deaco, now live in Riverside and drive a truck fora company in Burlington

deaco = delanco, I guess I missed a couple keys...
