when the people making the rules actually drive a truck and understand the job they should should not make the rules. why can a person drive home from a 12 hour shift at a hospital and a 39 year old professional truck driver only be allowed to drive 11 hours. how many drivers do you think actually sleep 10 plus hours a night. they are so bored they pace around and get less rest than if they could have delivered the load and then gone to bed to start fresh the next day. do you people understand that delivery times are a very short time of day at most companies and driving a extra 30 minutes can make a big difference in a truckers life. those trucks are easier to drive to them than a personal vehicle because thats what they drive the most, give them a break and let them make a few of their own decisions or make it a law that no one can work more than eight hours a day with one more hour of travel time to and from work. lets see how much things will cost everyone when the frieght rates double to compensate the truckers for all the sitting time. they pay thousands of dollars for the right to use the highway but still can only use certain lanes, they pay thousands of dollars for tolls etc, ride with a trucker and see all the idiot drivers in cars and see who might be causing most of the problems on the highway. remember they are the professional drivers.
