Should (God forbid) it ever came to it, do you suppose all of these new gun owners will just meekly turn over their firearms to the local PD?

Well, the article wasn't about ammunition per se, but about the firearms themselves.
.
In just any business which produces products needing replacement parts and supplies, a good vendor will always be in demand for one or the other.
.
Ammunition is a different story, and I cannot foresee a time when it isn't in demand.
.
The shortages currently experienced will slowly bounce back to normal, and the prices will very likely reflect that as well.
.
In the interim, I can see where a forward thinking company might well take advantage of the matter and produce a firearm a bit different than the current technology.
.
If you recall, back around 20 to 30 years ago, there was a rifle which used a completely expended round, and was powered by a piezoelectric ignitor.
.
Imagine: No brass to collect or reload.
.
That might be showing its face again ...

They might, Bruce. It is far easier for many people to "make a stand" when the consequences are not time in prison or being extra-judicially murdered at 3:30 AM by a team of government thugs. Washington called them "Summertime Soldiers".

Hence the "Oath Taker" movement.

I just wonder, how many, after all a lot of these people are not buying them to turn them in at a latter date no mater how big the government gift certificate from Walmart.

Standing and fighting, I don't know, I think it will be accomplished with "death by a thousand cuts"; a rule here, a restriction there, a new tax here, a new user fee there. etc. The socialist left operates a lot like the Taliban in that they are willing to wait till their time comes, it doesn't matter if it's a day a week a year ten years.

"This could prove painful for all involved. If sales fell to more typical levels of recent years, up to two-thirds of U.S. gun sales could disappear. And they could fall further. There are somewhere between 200 million and 300 million fireable guns (estimates vary widely) already in the U.S. Firearms have a very long lifespan if properly treated."

The latest estimate is 350 million guns. Guns can last forever, but a gun used regularly will wear out.

The filling of the gun bubble will slow eventually, but gun popularity is continuing to rise. Changes in technology are also compelling many gun owners to buy new guns.

Scopes, for example are improving everyday (their costs go down too). A scope can have it's own computer that calculates (and even automatically focuses and adjusts) the dope (windage and elevation). Some of them can do this at night because the scope has night vision capability along with the ability to determine the range of the target.

There are all kinds of improvements on the way. Soon every hunter will call their brand new AR15 'old betsy'. Every hunting rifle will have the M16 look. Pistol grip, magazine tunnel, flash or muzzle suppressor (or recoil reducer), AND CAMO look (bye bye Rem 700). Just kiddding.

I can't predict what the SCOTUS will do about McDonald vs Chicago.

Times are changing for gun makers and for gun buyers. Many more Americans will not own one or two guns, they'll have a gun collection. Amerika is about to learn why a person needs more than one gun.

I'm with you, but, the current problem we face is that "they" have control of the media, the education system, the Presidency, the House, the Senate, and possibly, the courts. As I have written in other post we must regain control of these entities.

I really don't believe "they" are dumb enough to pick an all out fight, they will however, try and take advantage of a situation as they did in New Orleans. Their problem is, of course, that more and more citizens are figuring out that the government can not protect them and that they had better have something to protect themselves should the need arise.

This recent incident where the home grown terrorist wanted to shoot up shopping malls will hopefully open more peoples eyes.

I'm unaware of the particular incident you remark of.
.
Further, I'm of the opinion that more than likely the matter was 'manufactured,' as have been several other recent incidents.
.
I say 'manufactured' because the government =NEEDS= people to believe that there's a bogey man hiding behind every tree, rock, automobile, door, window and spec of dust in order to con them out of more of their liberty.

The incident I refer to was announced yesterday, the "American Born" terrorist (don't know or care what his name is) was suppose to be plotting to attack soldiers and had ADDITIONAL plans to attack shoppers (brave guys) at enclosed shopping malls. My point is when John Q Public comes to realize that there is potential violence he / she may become more friendly to Second Amendment RIGHTS.

That sure worked wonders in Iraq and Afghanistan, right?

Daily Horoscope for November 29

Cancer

If you've been troubled lately, now's the time to seek a friend's counsel. Even just a little tea and sympathy will be nice, so plan to have lunch with someone simpatico. Everyone needs to spend a little time with someone who won't judge them; Cancer is often wonderful at giving this sort of unconditional affection but often has a harder time seeking it out. Accept a little TLC... you need it now.
