Depot is pathetic. People dont realize how much they lose by doing business with them. The service you get from dealing with either the mom and pop lumber yards or the true roof and siding houses is more than you will ever get at any depot. I am in the business. Depot may be cheaper, but factor in quality and service and knowledge they would rate low in all 3 .

I was just there this afternoon an was amazed at how "unwilling" they are to help.
A simple exterior door sweep is all I needed for a door I bought there less than a year ago.
All the "department supervisor" kept saying is,
"we don't carry that manufacturer anymore, I have no information on them in our computer"
He wasn't even willing to make an atempt to get me a phone number so I could try to get it on my own.
Athough these were not his words, it was certainly the message.
"We no longer have a relationship with this company, so OUR company stance is ...YOUR F%*KED!!"

TYPICAL HD srevice.
Good Luck with the turnaround

And let's not forget one of the most important issues here..The mom and pop stores are our friends and neighbors. Let's support them.

Home Depot is the same as Lowe's, same selection, same prices. Just a few short years ago, we had Rickels, Triangle, Lumber Yard, Wickes, and Channel.

I work at the Home Depot and I can tell you from experience that customers don't get help because we are drilled into the ground to get the shelves stocked (pack down) and face the product.

We are constantly being bitched at that "if it's not on the shelf we can't sell it".

Hi what about the customers dumb ass's how about they come first and maybe hire people to restock the shelves at night (hire more people).

Stop working people 10 straight days with a schedule that is insane!

Why are we rude sometimes to customers? because we are overworked, under valued, and we can't even see and spend downtime with our family because you have figured out a way to spread your staff so thin that we are exhausted.

But the managers get good pay and if your an ass kissing favorite you can make good money too.

What a crock of crap. I hate the Depot.

You jerk, you're a publicly traded company, you have an obligation to comment for your shareholders. I hope Home Depot goes bankrupt!

I don't hate my job I hate how the company treats the employees which in turn take it out on the customers. Why not pay the employees good and not overwork them or do the right thing and give people a chance to spend time with their family so the employee is happy which in turn passes to the customer. I love custoemr service and the customers. I don't however like the payscale difference between new people and people who have been their for a while. A .29 raise is a slap in the face!

Some of the principle problems I have found so far with the practices of the home depot are:
Short staffing the store so there are not enough employees to service customers.
The Nasty little practice of cutting part time employees hours after scheduling them to "balance" hours against sales.
Both of these practices lead to poorer customer service and lower sales.

Some of us may think one day it may turn around and be better. I know I am there to learn and help customers, not for my boss or his job! God knows I won't suck SM the way he does!

How many years have we all been waiting and hoping for a change though? I am strickly there for the customers because I love working with people.

I often clock out and stay a little later if my team members need help because I don't think it's right the customer suffers and my team mates are spread thin and stressed out.

I just wish management instead of riding us harder would address the #1 issue which is lack of staff. This is why employee retention is down which is a negative reflection on the company.

If people are smart they will sell their stock in Home Depot.
Hoem Depot is so stupid they bought back stock from employees at a loss. Wow that was intelligent!

Yes I am a jerk because I speak the truth and I have the balls to do it.

being with this company for almost a decade, i am tired of these employer surveys. we get the results read to us in a class format and for what. i have yet to see anything change from them. what is the purpose if they are,nt going to do anything. do they just want to hear our bitching for pleasure. i say that we band together and refuse to participate in anymore surveys. i consider myself a team player and i even signed up to be on the town hall, but i have second thoughts because i know in the end i will just be getting myself worked up and irritated. i happen to only achieve raises if i meet my sales goal, even though the retainer business has dropped severely, does,nt seem fair to me. being with this company for so long this is the first time i feel like my job in in jeapordy, but i am supposed to wave my magic wand and make customers appear. where is the love i tell you

no more employee surveys, what purpose do they really have if they dont act on them, i have filled out one every year for a decade and have yet to see anything posotive for the employees, maybe for the company, but if it suggest spending money on us forget it, what makes it worse is the class format in which they reveal the results to us, who cares, fed up with the politics, do something instead

Perhaps your performance is a slap in the face to your managers? I'm not saying that to pick a fight. What I am telling you is that your store is only as good as your store managers, not "Corporate HD". If they care (like I do) then they will reflect that to their associates.

We aren't perfect. We mess up all the time. But my store has given people merit increases for great performance, the best raises possible, and days off for personal reasons, etc. There are always going to be people who get a very low raise, yes that's correct. But if you are way under the pay scale compared to the rest of the people in your dept, go talk to your managers. They have an obligation to balance that out to a certain degree.

Also, consider taking a position like DH or a specialist position to make more money.

Good luck in your quest. Just remember there are ASM's out there like myself who are fighting hard for associates, even when some of them dislike me because I had to give them a lower raise.

I think we both fell off the same tree and ended up dead wood in lumber!

They say the moral is down in our store....only been open for almost a year and 90% of the DS's and all ASM's plus the sm are from the same store before they came to this new open to open! Think the others feel a little not wanted by the group. Then again when you have a bunch of people that want it to be forgiven for the mistakes at the other store has a chance in trying to make it right the second time round.
