Inquiry Into School Incident

“We went to the school as soon as we heard about it”

- Local police said Friday that they are investigating an incident in which two Pulaski Middle School students engaged in a sexual act during class.

Also on Friday, Assistant Superintendent of Schools Ron Jakubowski confirmed that the sex act occurred Monday, and that the students were disciplined Wednesday - the same day administrators learned of the incident. The students are also receiving supportive services from the school district.

Police began their investigation Friday after reading about the incident in The Courant. Read more

Wow!! Great investigative reporting; this author couldn't even dig up the teachers name; that is so weak! I well understand having to withold the names of the students involved, for they are minors. So what do we get? A parents name of a student who was not involved in the incident. Monica Polanco obviously never learned the "5 W's" of reporting

Edtom,
wth a story like that personally the details you are complaining about are useless. I think what the obvious message here is not who did it but why and what are people going to do to better educate their children about "the birds and the bees" and also some SELF RESPECT! I feel sorry for that little girl who now will have a "reputation" while the boy walks around getting pats on his back like he's a cool guy. I hope all parents involved take this as a wake up call. I'm tired of seeing babies having babies! It's sad!

Why is it that I get the feeling the teacher will be hung out to dry? Why don't we pu t the blame where it belongs? With the students! These kids obviously know right from wrong. From what is reported it does not appear that the teacher condoned this. She tried to stop it when she realized what was happening. Ask yourself how you would handle it. We all have been in a classroom, with a substitute teacher, before, and when the teacher left the room or turned their back something happens. When I was in school that something may have been someone throwing something but who would think that eigth grade kids or any age kids would engage in "sex acts"??? Bottom Line: the real blam belongs with the kids and THEIR PARENTS!!!!!

Was there a back ground investigation done on the teacher that was hired through Kelly Services? If not, why not?

Back ground check on the substitute teacher:was it not done? What was the sub doing in the classroom? Kelly Services charge a lot of money to the town to find substitutes.
Sex acts takes place in hallways in Middle and High schools.
Do not blame only parents, blame the TV shows.

To think that when I grew up the offenses that sent you to the Principle's Office were the like of Chewing Gum in class or talking in a classroom! I am glad that their will be counseling services provided with the discipline.

Too much is being made of this whole thing. I'm sure these kids are getting off on dominating the media.

A background check on the substitute to measure what? "Ability to prevent BJs in a crowded classroom"? Snap out of it!
