Mr. Bost spent time in Irag as an employee of a private contracter where he was paid in excess of 100,000 tax free. That does not make hom a war hero.

To set the record straight. The salary was not entirely tax free a portion of it was. The portion tax free was not $100,00 either. People should get the facts straight before they start talking. We paid at least 19,000 in taxes last year. We did not try to get out of paying one penny we owed. We paid every penny due.

Did he go to Iraq for the $158,000 a year income, or did he go to help Iraqi's?
Any way I am glad he made it back safely. Wish we could get out of that quagmire like right now, cause as I write this I am sure that there is another back door drafted American dieing or losing a limb for no reason. And they are not making 100K a year plus.

I have known The Bost Family for many years now, And I don't believe he went just for the money. They are all hard workers. And even if that were the case, who cares. Denny is a good honest man that tries to take care of everyone he can. I bet if it had been You, you would have gone in a heartbeat.

One person made the comment" as I write this I am sure that there is another back door drafted American dieing or losing a limb for no reason." First of all no one is drafted anymore. All the guys over there are there because they signed themselves up.

By back door draft, it is meant that the brave soldiers who signed up with the National Guard, even before the Iraq war, to defend our state, are sent to Iraq to defend the Iraq's. These soldiers never signed on for a foreign war, they were back door drafted.
There is a difference between calling OUT the National Guard to help at home, and calling UP the National Guard to serve in a war over seas.

Yes, I agree with you that the National Guard soldiers are brave men and women who are underpaid for what they do. Dennie was active duty Army 6 years and Army National Guard for 15 years. He was not ever deployed with the Guard to a war zone, and that is one of the many reasons he went to Iraq. He wanted to have that experience.

Everybody that joins the Guard knows that there is always the possibility of being called up to active duty.

It is not a new thing for the National Guard to be called up to active duty. The following information came from Wikipedia on the internet:

Throughout the 19th century the regular Army was small, and the militia provided the majority of the troops during the Mexican-American War, the start of the American Civil War, and the Spanish-American War. In 1903, part of the militia was federalized and renamed the National Guard and organized as a Reserve force for the Army. In World War I, the National Guard made up 40 percent of the U.S. combat divisions in France. In World War II the National Guard made up 19 divisions. One hundred forty thousand guardsmen were mobilized during the Korean War and over 63,000 for Operation Desert Storm. They have also participated in U.S. peacekeeping operations in Somalia, Haiti, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bosnia, and Kosovo as well as for natural disasters, strikes, riots and security for the Olympic Games when they have been in the States.

that was a sad remark

The war is still a crock regardless of how it is being fought. Anyone who supported it for just for the experience falls short of getting my vote.

You know, this war may be a crock to some people but it doesnt change the fact that no matter what you think, sitting in your home on your computer their are men and women DYING. Daily. I dont give a shit if you think the war is a crock there are still people, brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers putting their lives in danger 24/7. I think the only people who get to say anything negative about this "war" are the people who are dying for it.

Dennie Bost, is an honest and good man. His wife didnt go through 2 years without him for the money. He honestly thought he was doing his part. No wife would willingly send her husband away for 2 1/2 years. Anyone saying he did this only for the money should have a conversation with the party in question and stop judging before you speak. It was a very long, stressful and difficult time for that family. Reguardless of what money he did or did not make he still put his own life in danger. He was injured on more than one occasion and Honeslty thought he was doing something good for those people. when have you done something you are honestly proud of? When have you gone outside your comfort zone and put yourself in a place where your life is at risk in order to help another people who is less fortunate than yourself?

Sad, I would have to say that you obviously don't understand what they are trying to tell you. If your in the military (thank god we still have one) you don't get a choice of which war (popular or not) you get to fight in, I fought in one that was just as un-popular as the one in the middle east. I didn't get much of a say so, but I was told to go defend my country and I went, twice!

I don't think people that haven't been in combat or had a spouse/loved one in combat get to voice an opinion on this one.

If you are a Vietnam Vet I think you will like this site. Follow the link that says letter. It is a letter from a Vietnam Dad to his baby girl back home. I think it says it all.
