The uneasiness was very clear. That's why I chose to take a lower paying job with a different company. They couldn't pay enought to be in that environment.

I really enjoy working for HD Supply. I worked for Hughes too. Although there have been some turbulent times in the past few years, HD Supply has become a company with great vision. The leaders of HD Supply are better than those at Hughes, they are more in touch with their employees. Of the 5 executives in Orlando, 2 are women and the entire company is more diverse than that of Hughes. Instead of promoting buddies, they actually promote those who produce results. Our leaders are also open and honest. HD Supply is a great company to work for. I am glad that Hughes sold us. It's worked out better for me.

I actually miss working with HD Supply (working at an Orange Box myself). We did a lot of contractor buying through HD Supply, and we could get things for a customer right then and there that we couldn't get through normal pipelines.

I'm glad things are peachy for you, but as one of many layed off January 2008 in Corporate Orlando, I'm not very satisfied with how the new leaders are "in touch with their employees", by saying goodbye to half their staff. Sure, I understand budget cuts and I worked there many years (hired into Hughes) and worked through several prior layoffs unaffected. I admit it was a great ride while it lasted - but my experience suffered when Home Depot shook the bread basket too hard then sold it. Bottom line, when the hatchet man(woman) comes to town, it doesn't matter where you are working and what you're doing, nor how long and how how well you've been doing it - kiss your past goodbye.

My husband was one of the vendors with the Crown Bolt Division laid off in February. I agree with unsettled - I an not very satisfied with the level of "in touch" the leaders have. My husband had been with Crown Bolt for over a decade, but the guy that had been there three months kept his job and my husband did not. I guess someone with three months was better able to "meet goals" than someone who had been there for 10+.
