My wife and I are both "7 Star" players (both smokers) at Harrah casinos in Atlantic City. I just heard that even though AC has elected to postpone smoking ban 1 year Harrahs will still ban. I don't know what idiot executive from Harrahs made this decision,

Harrahs utilizes electronic tracking of play. I'm sure they can also tell the amount of play in smoking vs nonsmoking areas. Without the electronic tracking a simple walk through the casino floor would show smoking areas full and nonsmoking areas empty.

I guess Harrahs doesn't want our business any more.

I think that is great! Now we will see if the market truly supports a totally non-smoking casino.

I agree with R Bed. My husband and I are both smokers and we play at the Showboat. If Harrahs continues the smoking ban, we will DEFINITELY take our business somewhere else.

Try one of the three Trump properties or the Trop or the Hilton. As LuckyinNC says, we'll see if totally smoke free casinos can support themselves. That's it.

I applaud Harrah's for taking steps toward a smoking ban. I think more people wil come if they do not have to be subjected to second hand smoke that poisons your lungs and stinks up your clothes!

I have been waiting for Oct. 15 for a long time. I decided when I heard that the ban was delayed a year to stop coming to AC. We have casinos in PA that right now are 75/25 supposedly. I was at Harrah's in Chester last evening and they're trying to keep the smoking along the rims of the casino. It still affects me. I start coughing before I realize I can smell the smoke. I never go into the smoking sections knowingly. I have a room booked in November, and that will be my last trip if Harrah's doesn't go smoke free. It costs so much to go to AC with all the tolls, and it's a lot closer in PA. I feel AC council did not have the health of customers at heart but big business. I know of other non-smokers who are now not going to AC. We all feel betrayed. I hope Harrah's does decide to stay smoke free.

That's good if Harrah's bans smoking of their own free will. It should be a personal choice of ALL businesses to be smoking or non smoking, then everyone can choose to either go to a smoking establishment or not and no one can complain about anyone else's rights. If you apply for a job you will know that it is a smoking casino and can assume the risk or go work elsewhere, if you don't like smoke you can go to harrahs and the smokers can go elsewhere, that sounds more like freedom to me, so why are we forcing people not to smoke? That's dictatorship, not freedom! All businesses should freely be allowed to decide if they are a smoking establishment or not. Why aren't the law makers promoting freedom of CHOICE?? Are we still in America?

As a Harrahs Diamond player. living 20 min. away from Chester Harrahs---who had non-smoking ban----THEN PA REPS enacted the STUPID 75/25.

After 9/11/08, been there done that, trying to comply w/PA. smoke ban restrictions I've decided NOT TO ANGST myself, feel antsy---JUST NOT GO, SPEND MONEY, b/c disposible income spending (for me) is no longer fun.

would also like to add----I'm willing & able to share a 50/50 split w/a smoking non smoking section----however I won't spend disposible fun money in a very narrow "ACCEPTALE PLAY AREA".

My life goes on very nicely-----the LOSERS are the STATES who enact these bans (via lose in tax revenues) the owners & employees who suffer loses.

We who enjoy smoking have $$$'s to spend, but now won't b/c we are now made to feel unwelcomed----unconfortable, etc.

As an FYI ANTIS, you're doing a GREAT JOB in contributing to making a bad economy worse--give yourselves a pat on the back.

This may be a lose-lose situation, but the casino people are not making decisions without a lot of solid data about the their customers, including whether they smoke or not---think of it as gaming triage---with some decisions paying off right away, some not for months or years.

The AC casinos will be totally smoke free from October 15 to October 27. All non-smokers lets patronize them during this time to show our support. Even when the ban ends, we will have had smoke free casinos for a short time. Make your plans now to visit AC.

While you non smokers are there in your smoke free environment can you abstain from blowing you bad breath breath in people's faces and farting so that those of us with good manors don't keel over dead from the fumes? Aslo double up on the deoderant and cool down on the perfume and after shave. Also ride your bikes so as to not cause further polutions in the air. That would help the air to be free and fresh as well.

Why must you smokers be so rude in your comments? Isn't there any way that you can answer in an intelligent manner?

Errr...no what is rude is to demand all places cater to your needs...while disallowing others who do not see this your way the right to have places of their own to enjoy their legal lifestyle choice.

That is not only rude...that is extremely selfish.

Now let's test your intellectual honesty.

Are you willing to apply your sides ridiculous standard of "no safe level" to all forms of indoor smoke that contain known carcinogens...or only to those of your sides choosing?

I am also a "7 Stars" player at Harrah's and I am a smoker. The normal group of players I see week to week weren't there this past weekend, even though there was a fight, which normally draws a larger crowd. I guess the other players weren't kidding when they said they would go to Conn or PA when the ban hit. One man told me after Harrah's announced it would stay smoke free regardless of the vote outcome, he called other casinos. Apparently your rated play can be checked and they are more than willing to provide you with comparable benefits. Bye Harrah's

HARRAH'S ARE YOU READING THESE COMMENTS! You have enough properties in AC-- You could easily make some smoke free and keeps the others split-- it's a no brainer. Why take the chance of your loyal clientele leaving for other casinos? GIVE YOUR CUSTOMERS A CHOICE
