from the article: "the authors of the letter say scientists and doctors have periodically been told to ignore FDA regulations"

If we can't trust the FDA or if doctors don't trust the FDA how can we safely buy drugs at the pharmacy?

Don't forget the myriad e.coli and salmonella scares we've had over the past eight years. Verbal diarrhea from Washington as well.

"Fix" the FDA? That doesn't seem possible. A complete overhaul seems necessary.

They should take a long hard look at how they accept perscription drugs and the marketing of them as well.

I doubt that most government agencies are working properly. Especially these days.

I don't understand why drugs and supplements that lack clinical review and FDA approval are still allowed to advertise on television. Yes, there are plenty of people stupid enough to buy pills that claim to add SERIOUS length to their Wang Chungs, but it somehow seems totally illegal.

Definitely seems like there needs to be some changes in responsibilities if the Department of Agriculture and FDA have such different workloads.

Funny, Bush didn't mention this in his drunken "exit interview" the other day. Personally, I applaud the whistleblowers. It's about time someone in the know stood up and exposed the FDA for the highly politicized, Pfizer/Merck-loving piece of garbage it's (recently) become.
