Glitch Delays Full Windows XP SP3 Rollout

Hold your horses on that Windows XP SP3 download. Now we know why Microsoft's Download Center doesn't have XP SP3 on it yet, although you can find it if you know the links. Glitch, bug, whatever you want to call it, there's a problem.

You think XP has problems......try $300 Vista Ultimate...Nothing like doling out crap and fixing it later
I am totally on-board to trash Microsoft, in favor of a MAC----

There should be a law against an OS (operating system) that works as poorly as Microsoft's. OSs should also be required to be completely supported for at least 20 years.

XP isn't all that terrible. It's just huge and vulnerable and ugly and won't admit its mistakes. Like my wife.

I'd like to think that Bonehead Steve Ballmer ok'd the switch to Vista, screwing the hardware manufacturers over and turning on a light in Palo Alto. But apparently, the storm died down before the new brain was placed inside the monster.

I guess I'll wait for a few funerals before I install SP3.

Actually, I don't. Perhaps you missed my tone. To cry foul over something no one has yet (SP3) is sophomoric. XP SP2 is the only stable GUI O/S MS has ever released.(DOS 6.2 was also quite nice.) It needs a good roll-up release for the patches, but not a major overhaul.

There should be a set of standards that any OS should be capable of...

1. Should work without crashing more than once for every 50 hours of use.
2. Should be supported for 20 years.
3. Should boot up in less than 1 second.
4. Should work with software that is over 10 years old.
5. Should work with any peripheral.
6. Should have GUI and command line.

Anything less than that should be banned.

Anything that fails the standards (that I mentioned in the previous post) could be banned. Prohibit sales if it fails!

Other defective products are banned or required to meet government standards. Are you working for Microsoft?
