Transcontinental wins Rogers magazine printing now done by Quebecor World
- Transcontinental Inc. (TSX:TCL.B) has won a long-term contract to print all the magazines of Rogers Communications Inc. (TSX:RCI.B), Canada's largest magazine publisher.
The work, valued at $210 million over the six-year agreement, is currently done by troubled printer Quebecor World Inc. (TSX:IQW).
Rogers has more than 70 magazine titles, including Chatelaine, Maclean's, L'actualite and Canadian Business.
The contract takes effect Feb. 1, 2009, at which time "Transcontinental will become the most important catalogue and magazine printer in Canada," the Montreal-based printing and media company stated Friday. Read more

- Quebecor World Inc. (TSX:IQW) says it has recently signed new or renewed multi-year agreements worth $75 million annually, proving it still has the confidence of customers despite being placed in bankruptcy protection.
The struggling Montreal-based global printer said that over the last several weeks it has signed new and renewed multi-year agreements with important customers across all of its major business divisions.
"These multi-year agreements clearly demonstrate that major publishers, retailers, and direct marketing companies recognize the value Quebecor World provides to their business", president and CEO Jacques Mallette said in a news release. Read more
