The flight was only booked to 124. Talk about excess capacity. I'd rather have a drunk pilot all paranoid and thinking extra hoping not to get busted than pilots on a laptop too engrossed to fly.

But yes, the REAL story here is 124 passengers on a 200+ seat airplane. That's gotta be a loser. Look at the bright side. He probably got a flat bed upgrade for crew rest.

F.A.A. should not tolerate any irresponsible pilot while on duty with or without passengers. There should be no double standards on the definition of FAR 91.3 careless and reckless endangerment and 91.17. If the pilots of Northwest A320 pilots got their pilot license revoke for one year, then the pilots at Delta and United should be suspended also.
CLEARLY BOTH PILOTS AT DELTA and the black pilot at United should have their pilot license revoke period.

Let's be fair. Make that "the two white pilots at Delta" Why is color only an issue when it is a black person?

It doesn’t matter if the Pilots were polka dot! All of them were quite irresponsible with total disregard for their profession. There are several pilots waiting in line for a commercial job who value and respect the profession.

The only way this industry will return to respectability, is to re-regulate it.

Don't hold your breath. It is NOT going to happen. The American public loves their cheap fares. You will no more see deregulation come back than you will see Wallmart regulated out of business in favor of the mom and pop drugstore, grocery store, dress shop, stationery store etc. Competition is here to stay. It may be ugly, and it may not be good for airline employees, but it is the American way.

Sure it could. Govt could say that pricing should be length based, repair work must be done in shops with FAA oversight, mail must be carried by air carriers that bid for the work and not sole source on FDX. Should I go on?

Oh I just thought on another one, allow combis, like in europe. How about letting the govt pay for security, or bringing back observation decks?

Now there's something we agree on! Bring back the observation deck! Terrorists are not going to get up there with missile launchers, just a bunch of geeky plane spotters and pilot wannabes!

Daily Horoscope for December 3

Pisces

Although its just the start of December, you still need to get your skates on if you want to be ready for the forthcoming festivities. If you've barely made a dent in your preparations, relax, sit down and start writing out your list of what needs to be done. The Moon's in intuitive Cancer, so take it easy for a while and have some romantic fun. You can instruct your subconscious to take up the load, and things will look easier in the morning.
