- The controversial sale of Canada's largest space technology firm to an American arms-maker will be scrutinized by a second parliamentary committee.
The Commons foreign affairs committee has unanimously agreed to hold hearings on the proposed sale of the Radarsat 2 satellite, Canadarm and Dextre by MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates (TSX:MDA).

Layton, NDP thinking of court action to block Radarsat sale to U.S. firm
“It would have to be (done) in a very timely way.”
- NDP Leader Jack Layton says his party could go to court to try to block the Conservative government from approving the sale of a key corporate part of the aerospace industry to U.S. interests.
"What we're doing is surveying all of the arguments and instruments that are available," Layton said in an interview Sunday.
The main option being explored is whether it's possible to obtain a prohibition order from the courts that would prevent Ottawa - at least temporarily - from giving the go-ahead for the sale of the space technology division of Vancouver-based MacDonald, Detwiler and Associates. Read more

Senate OKs economic incentives to lure Cessna expansion

Senators approved a bill Wednesday aimed at encouraging Cessna Aircraft to expand its operations in Wichita.
The bill, approved 36-2, would authorize the state to issue bonds on Cessna's behalf for construction of new facilities for the production of the company's new Citation Columbus business jet.
Legislators have expedited the measure by inserting the language in a House bill, meaning it could be adopted without that chamber sending it to committee for review. Passage there would send it to Gov. Kathleen Sebelius. Read more
