An architectural design for a large indoor sports complex to be built beside Smithers Secondary School was presented at last Tuesday's Bulkley Valley School District's operations board meeting. Stretching 100 feet by 100 feet, with a maximum height of 35 feet, the plan by Vancouver's KMBR Architects Planners Inc. was described as the "cadillac version" by superintendent Chris van der Mark.

'Asian Games will provide Kuwait with experience'

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 15, : Chairman of the Kuwait Olympic Committee Sheikh Talal Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said that the 17th Asian games tournament which will kick off in South Korea next Friday is a chance to enhance the level of expertise of Kuwaiti athletes. The Kuwaiti teams which will head to Incheon city on Tuesday have completed the preparations for the event, aiming to achieve positive results, said Sheikh Talal in a statement on Monday.

Cash rewards for Asiad challengers

Thailand are sending 517 athletes to the Sept 19-Oct 4 tournament and targeting 11 gold medals - the same number they won in the previous edition in Guangzhou in 2010. Under the National Sports Development Fund's bonus scheme, the government will pay an Asian Games champion one million baht, a silver medal winner 500,000 baht and a bronze medallist 200,000 baht.
