Hijack cloud on Siliguri trucks

Siliguri, April 3: At least three goods laden trucks have disappeared from the outskirts of the town in a month prompting local traders to write to the inspector-general of police seeking his intervention to prevent what they suspect are hijackings.

Arson finger at Cong pradhan

Jalpaiguri, April 1: More than 20 houses were either burnt or ransacked in two villages in Barapetia today allegedly at the behest of the Congress pradhan who wanted to avenge the assault on him when he went to evict squatters from vested land a few days ago.

Truck-car collision kills six

Jalpaiguri, March 18 : Six persons died and four were injured when an SUV and a truck collided head on while negotiating a bend on the national highway near Mainaguri just past midnight.
