Lackey ejected, Cards shackled by Reds

A game that started with the Cardinals starter being ejected before he could get his arm really loose ended with the Cardinals unable to muster anything, not even with a parade of pitch hitters, against Reds closer Aroldis Chapman. Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said he went with bat speed against Chapman in the ninth - deploying Mark Ellis and Peter Bourjos, in place of Yadier Molina, as the first two hitters in the ninth.

Reds play baseball, lose. STL 7, CIN 3.

Apologies for the untimeliness of today's last night recap. I wasn't about to ruin what was an otherwise wonderful Wednesday by jumping head-first into uncovering the details of last night's game when I made it home during the 8th inning.
