Cust's home run helps Yankees walk off
Jack Cust led off the 10th inning with a walk-off home run as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees defeated the Buffalo Bisons, 8-7, at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, N.Y. It was another rough outing for Yankees starter Dellin Betances, who lasted just two innings and allowed four runs, three earned, and walked four.
SWB Yankees take third of four against Columbus
Starter Ramon Ortiz gave up just a pair of solo home runs and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees scored five in the first inning en route to a 6-2 victory over Columbus on Tuesday at Huntington Park in Columbus, Ohio.
Steve Pearce had three hits, and his eighth inning home run gave the Yankees all the breathing room they'd need to get past Columbus, 9-6, on Monday night at Huntington Park.
And in the ninth inning, clinging depsperately to a one-run lead, the Toledo Mud Hens loaded the bases with nobody out against their ace closer.
The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees had been the victims of big innings more often than they'd like to think about during their first 20 games.
