Hughes gets the call to take on White Sox in opener

Fresh off taking three of four from the Athletics, the White Sox will send left-hander Jose Quintana to the hill for the series opener against the Twins on Friday night at U.S. Cellular Field. He took another no-decision in his last outing, allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out seven Indians.

Chris Iannetta plated the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth, Huston Street closed it out in the bottom half, and the Angels edged the Twins, 5-4, at Target Field on Thursday night. David Freese, who entered the game riding an 0-for-20 slump, led off the decisive frame with a ground-rule double off lefty reliever Glenn Perkins and was replaced by pinch-runner Tony Campana.
