J.T. Snow, Tony Siegle Rep Giants at Draft
Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft is on the horizon -- it's going down June 4-6 -- and when the Giants step up to the podium to announce their picks, they'll be represented by former Giant player J.T. Snow and senior advisor to baseball operations Tony Siegle.
May 21 once saw history with twin killings, as on this date in 1925, the Tigers and Senators tied a nine-inning Major League record by turning a combined nine double plays in Washington's 6-2 win over Detroit.
John Yandle is the pitching machine that goes on and on
Simply put, John Yandle just keeps pitching. He holds a record of sorts, offering up left-handed batting practice for the San Francisco Giants on days the team faces a lefty for the past 28 years.
A's, Giants interleague rivalry, then and now
At another time in interleague lore, the Giants and A's had marquee names throughout their rosters, making for a lively debate over which team and which players were better.
Streak struck: Josh Vitters had three hits and Juan Apodaca drove in three runs as Iowa thumped Fresno 10-1 on Thursday night at Chukchansi Park before an announced crowd of 5,606. The Grizzlies can no longer take the series, which snaps their season-long streak of eight straight series wins.
J.T. Snow likes SF Giants' 1st basemen
"It's funny because in years past, they were trying to find someone to play there," said Snow, noting prospects Daniel Ortmeier , John Bowker and Travis Ishikawa , who are long gone, "and now they've got three guys over there who are pretty good, if you ask me." Brandon Belt and Brett Pill are natural first basemen.
Ozzie Virgil will lead us through the afterlife one of these days, and we'll get a full tour of everything the Marlins have done to the Giants.
