Verlander loses shot at third no-no in ninth
Justin Verlander came within two outs of becoming just the sixth pitcher in Major League history with three no-hitters. But Pirates leadoff hitter Josh Harrison broke it up with a one-out single through the middle in the ninth inning, ending Verlander's bid but doing little to scuttle his 6-0 shutout Friday night at Comerica Park.
