Twins 6, White Sox 4: Trevor May posts 10 strikeouts for win

Before facing the Chicago White Sox for the second time in 11 days, Trevor May huddled with Phil Hughes to pick his brain about how to attack a team of dangerous free swingers. Judging from the results May enjoyed in Sunday's 6-4 win, it appears the Twins rookie right-hander listened well to the team's 15-game winner.

Noesi can send White Sox to season-best win streak

When he was placed on waivers by the Rangers after posting a 14.21 ERA in five April relief appearances split between Seattle and Texas, the White Sox took a chance on Noesi, and he's been trending in the right direction as the season winds down. Noesi hopes to continue getting better while pushing the White Sox winning streak to a season-high five games on Sunday as Chicago tries to sweep Minnesota at U.S. Cellular Field.

MLB Notebook: Sale in rare AL company

In 1914, Red Sox southpaw Dutch Leonard engaged the American League to the tune of a 0.96 ERA , allowed batters to reach via a hit at a rate of 5.57 per nine innings pitched and fanned 20.9 percent of all batters he faced. All three marks led the AL -- quite an accomplishment for a hurler who was pitching in his age-22 season.

Twins Notes: Santana, Escobar, St. Peter, Thorpe, Mauer, and May

However, assuming that he doesn't go into a prolonged slump down the stretch Santana's performance would be enough to make him a deserving Rookie of the Year winner in quite a few previous seasons. Last season, for instance.

Twins 11, White Sox 4: John Danks founders after rain delay

John Danks found himself in a precarious position in the fifth inning, trying to protect a newly tied game against Joe Mauer as a downpour quickly swept over Target Field. A walk put runners on first and second with nobody out, after which the umpires stopped the game and called for the grounds crew with the game tied at 3. The rain delay was a brief 16 minutes, but it put a "to be continued..." cliffhanger on the inning.
