Defenders' swan song ends on sour note
There will be no more comebacks this season for the Connecticut Defenders. One night after a pulsating 8-7 victory over Akron to stay alive in the Eastern League championship series, an ugly fourth inning when the Aeros scored five times ended the drama early and resulted in a 10-6 title-clinching victory for the home team.
Aeros win Eastern League title
A five-run fourth inning was the spark the Aeros needed to claim their third Eastern League Championship title in seven years Saturday night at Canal Park.
Both Giants ' affiliate still in the post-season won their games, with these individual highlights: Brian Bocock homered, doubled, and had a walk; Thomas Neal reached base four times; Mike McBryde had three hits; and Paul Oseguera allowed 2 ER in 5.2 IP pitching at High Desert.
Both Giants ' affiliates still seeing post-season action lost last night, with no individual lines really standing out as highlight-worthy, although an honorable mention would go to Eddy Martinez-Esteve for his home run while reaching base twice.
