Cubs will be in position to make a splash with Jon Lester

No matter what happens with the Wrigley Field renovations and the next TV contract, the Cubs will be in position to make a splash and sign Jon Lester to a megadeal. Multiple industry sources say the Cubs are targeting Lester and will make a run at him this winter, trying to set a foundation piece in the rebuild at Clark and Addison.

David Buchanan has been better than you think

Because the Phillies will likely be a bit shorthanded in the rotation next year, the 25-year-old right-hander was already pretty much guaranteed a starting spot for 2015. But his recent string of effective pitching is helping to make the thought of him pitching regular innings next year a reasonable one.

Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta right-hander was on the wrong side of a no-hitter in his last start for the Braves and will be no doubt hoping for a little more help on Sunday when he faces Miami to close out a three-game series with the Marlins. Teheran was nicked for five runs in 6 2/3 innings of a 7-0 loss to Philadelphia on Monday, when the Phillies got a combined gem from Cole Hamels and three relief pitchers.
