Adrian Gonzalez was surprised and not that thrilled to come out of the game in the sixth inning last night.

In lifting Adrian Gonzalez for a pinch-runner in the sixth inning, Valentine was trading one at-bat by Gonzalez for the defensive upgrade he'd get in the outfield -- first from Che-Hsuan Lin, later from Scott Podsednik, who pinch-hit for Lin in the eighth inning.

Some of you may be wondering who Che-Hsuan Lin , the recently called up Taiwanese guy, is- and I, being head of the prospects department here at BoSox Injection, am here to tell you.

Adrian Gonzalez has started the last two Red Sox games in right field, a necessity borne out of the absence of Cody Ross , Ryan Sweeney , and another entire outfield's worth of outfielders.

Here we are again talking about injuries. The Red Sox seem to have an outsized injury problem, or maybe a decade-sized, but it's there.

Che-Hsuan Lin has made a habit of making highlight-reel catches in the Red Sox minor-league system.

By Joseph Yeh--The Boston Red Sox Taiwan-native outfielder Che-Hsuan Lin singled in his fourth Major League Baseball at-bat, giving him his first hit in the MLB Monday as his team passed over the Baltimore Orioles in an 8-6 victory at the latter's home stadium.

Cody Ross became the sixth Red Sox outfielder on the disabled list yesterday, joining the hurt parade because of a non-displaced fractured navicular bone in his left foot.

So that's six. There's probably some more, likely to do with the Houdini act of Vicente Padilla and the "actual pitcher" act of Andrew Miller .

With health questions swirling around just about every available Red Sox outfielder, Che-Hsuan Lin was called up from Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday morning to provide depth.

Like Jose Iglesias , Lin has shown plenty of defensive ability over the years, but his bat always seems to lag well behind.

Pawtucket chased Figueroa after just 3A A...A' innings, tabbing him for eight runs on eight hits, including a two-run home run from Che-Hsuan Lin with no outs in the second inning.

Gibson was drafted back in 2008 by the Red Sox , a second-round selection who made his professional debut as an 18-year-old back in Rookie League and then Low-A Lowell.
