For a certain generation of musicians raised on pop-punk, Something To Write Home About from Kansas City's Get Up Kids was a major touchstone.

The Get Up Kids With Saves the Day. 6:30 p.m., June 9. Toad's Place, 300 York St.

Founding member of the Get Up Kids A and the New Amsterdams , Matt Pryor , will hit Madison for a special house show at the North Mendota Supper Club on Saturday, December 4 . Doors will open at 8, with the show starting at 9. Tickets are $15 in advance and are only available via Ducat King .

This news should make some sad kids a little happier at the start of Halloween Weekend: Kansas City's emo legends The Get Up Kids will put out a new record in January 2011.
