I like the toyota yaris. The addition of the 4 door hatchback is a good idea. The yaris has one of the best mpg figures for a hatchback. I just wish the corolla had a hatchback version.

Corolla hatchback = Toyota Matrix

Yaris could become a top 10 seller with the new model mix.

What I don't like about the matrix, is it gets considerably less mpg than the corolla does.

All of them are deathtraps and eyesores.
The only Blandyota I would consider getting is a fully loaded Avalon with dark tint windows or a last generation Sequoia

The only reason they're a deathtrap is because so many people in the U.S. think they have to drive an Avalon or Expedition - know doubt who would win in the case of an accident between a Corolla and an Avalon. My only reservation of buying a subcompact is having me and my children run over by a big SUV, which are many times driven with only one person in them.

Well how about smashing into a tree? Or maybe a trailor? Or rolling into a ditch?

They have valid argument. The auto fatality in the US is considerably higher than most other modern countries - arguably this is because so many multiple car accidents result in a larger vehicle pulverizing a smaller vehicle (and its inhabitants).
People can be offended or defensive against it all they want, but something in our evolution as a society here in the US has caused us to think that bigger is inherently better - this is manifested in the prevalence of big freaking vehichles carrying far too few people to actually justify its daily use.

At last check this is America, and we are free to buy the biggest or smallest truck or car we want. Any notion to trudge that thought is liberal nonsense.

Aint it the sad truth? Theyre so "pro-choice," yet they dont think anyone should be allowed to own guns, drive a vehicle of their choice, or live in a house of their choice. Its not liberalism, its communism, plain and simple.

The Yaris is just an eyesore. Its littering rental lots, because nobody wants to buy it for themselves. Its the junkiest little Toyota in the line-up. Ford Fiesta will be a much better option.

Wow, not that you had an ounce of credibility to begin with, but you just dashed all hope that we'd believe you were actually sane.

No Yaris on rental lots, simply because Toyota is selling everyone they can make in the retail market. Yaris sales are up 34% for 2008 and are projected to easily top 100K units for the calendar year.

Looks like the Fiesta will have its work cut out for it, trying to enter a market in which Japanese vehicles dominate. For 2009 Toyota adds the much desired 5-door batchback which will add another 50K in annual sales, putting the Yaris at a nice 150K total annual sales, placing it in the company of the Malibu, Fusion, and Impala in terms of sales numbers. The kicker is, Toyota prices the Yaris at a premium and gets huge profit margins on its small car.

What a quiet little competitor.

Incorrect statement.

Huh?

Yaris is readily available as a Rental. Toyota will even rent you one from Toyota rent-a-car. Pick a tundra or Sienna, Camry or Yaris. In fact, every Toyota model is available for rental.

It’s not a “NOT A RENTAL” because you said so.

Not true, every rental company has Yaris as its tiny car. Every Yaris I see has a rental company barcode on it and usually a 'BUDGET' sticker too.
How do you know how many of those Yaris sales are fleet? You dont. Yaris is a classic example of consumers being blinded by a brand.

Well I drive more rental cars than everyone on this forum combined and I have yet to see a Yaris, but I don't rent that class of vehicle.

Regardless, Toyota doesn't sell these at slim margins to rental companies, so its just more money in the coffers for Toyota. They figured out long ago how to make money on small cars, and they haven't lost scope of that.

Wait a minute! Does anyone
know what happened to the
Toyota Yaris Sedan? Is there
a reason why they don't
make them anymore?
