I can't wait for Saab to re-emerge as a stande alone entity. My 1986 900 SPG was rated as a "compact", got 30+ mpg, and with the rear seats folded forward, I transported a Coke machine to my office, and a sofa to my house. Now that was Swedish ingenuity. A new small car (hopefully a hatchback), decked out with new technology, powerful, but fuel eficient and safe will have me waiting in line in the showroom with the thousands of other buyers that have needed Saab to build something worth owning. Even if it is not a profit maker, shedding completly (rather than "evolving" out of) the GM mantle will go a long way towards showing the world a real independent brand.
